Analysis: Determining the nature of something by studying or identifying its elements and how the elements are related.

Archaeological Excavation: The thoughtful, organized and controlled digging of a site where historic or prehistoric remains of the human past are located.

Archaeologist:  A person who conducts and/or teaches archaeology as a profession.

Interpretation: The explanation of what something means based on a knowledge and analysis of the facts.

Neanderthals:  An extinct species or type of humans that lived over 30,000 years ago, mostly in what is today known as Europe..

Prehistoric: Generally, the time before written words or recorded history, as it relates to humans.

Species: As it relates to humans, individuals who have common features and behavior and are able to breed with each other.
